Styles & Types

Closed Brick: A completely closed wall with no gaps, providing maximum privacy and sound insulation.

Open/Accent Brick: Walls with gaps for aesthetic purposes or pillars made of iron or wood.

Reinforced: Walls with steel rods inside for extra strength against high winds or seismic activities

  • Key Benefits

    Cost-Effective:
Brick is generally less expensive than natural stone products because of the standardization of the production process and the speed at which they are installed.

    Sound Insulation:
Brick is a dense building product that will minimize the noise from traffic and the street.

    Eco-Friendly:
Brick is made from abundant natural resources, clay, and shale.

    Maintenance:
Brick requires minimal maintenance, although it is suggested that the mortar be inspected periodically for deterioration or the presence of efflorescence, which is a white salt deposit.

    Stone Masonry Fences:
Stone fences are a luxurious choice that will provide the highest level of beauty and longevity.

    Board-on-Board:
A very private fence where the boards overlap to fill the spaces between the boards as they shrink. This is one of the most popular wooden fences in the DFW area. A decorative top is usually added along with a rot board. In the photo above, a 2 x 6 pressure-treated pine is embedded in the ground to hold the cedar boards off the ground, protecting the boards from damage by animals, landscapers, etc.

Styles & Types

Natural Stone: It uses real stone, like granite or limestone. It is very durable, although it can be labor-intensive to install it.

Stone Veneer: It is a lighter weight shell of stone placed over a concrete block core. It is easier to install and often used for high walls.

Dry Stack: In this type of construction, stones are not held together with mortar; instead, they are stacked on top of each other.

  • Key Benefits

    Extreme Durability:
It beats out brick in terms of compressive strength, withstanding harsh weather and physical impacts with greater strength.

    High Value:
It provides a nice boost to home value and curb appeal, despite having the highest cost to install.

    Low Porosity:
Hard stones like granite absorb significantly less water, reducing damage from freezing/thawing.

    Maintenance:
Virtually maintenance-free, although stones that are mortared may eventually need to be repointed to replace eroded mortar.

    Board on Board:
A very private fence style where the boards are overlapped to close gaps as they shrink. This is one of the most popular wood fence styles you will see in the DFW area. They are often accompanied with a decorative top rail and a rot board. As seen in the photo, a 2 by 6 piece of pressure treated pine is installed in the ground to elevate the cedar boards off of it to prevent damage from animals, lawn maintenance, etc.
